Slip Cast Expressive Ceramic Vessel

Slip Cast Expressive Ceramic Vessel
This is a precedent board showing existing ceramics in different shapes and sizes.
This is a precedent board exploring the conspicuous transformation of everyday objects. It shows various shapes, sizes and objects being transformed into something else that can still be useful. It shows a funnels, PVC pipes and cake pans being used as candle holders.
This is a mood board exploring the cycle of tea and tea making. This relates to me personally as I drink tea for breakfast every day and before I go to bed. Tea plays a huge role in the cycle of my every-day life. I had the idea of transforming stacked teacups into a vase for this ceramics project.
This is a mood board exploring various reels with rope and string. Reels play a role in my life's cycle as my family and I take trips on weekends and holidays. These trips consists of the family fishing, boating and camping. Fishing reels and rope is used for camping, fishing and boating and this relates to my life's cycle. Transforming the reel into a vessel and taking it from being just a reel to an expressive vessel is the objective of this project.
Mock-ups of the stacked teacup concept
Conceptual Drawings
These are concept development sketches exploring different teacups and different ways of stacking.
These are concept development sketches exploring different teacups and different ways of stacking refining it down to simpler teacup forms and less cups used in the stacking process.
These are concept development sketches exploring different everyday objects that could be transformed into a vessel. Seen above is a bread loaf packet, a cigarette box exploring the idea of the box being the holder and each cigarette a vessel to hold one flower each. There is also an unusual shaped perfume bottle, a stack of books, a cotton reel, an ashtray and sugar sachets.
These are concept development sketches exploring the idea of turning paint tubes into a vessel or vessels. Because I love to paint I thought that I could link the cycle of me painting to the paint tubes which are an interesting form to be casted. The idea of having a wooden paint palette act as the holder and hold each paint tube which will hold one or two flowers in each.
These are concept development sketches exploring different types and sizes of cotton/rope reels. Here I decided to further explore further from concept page 3 which has the fishing reel drawing.
These are concept development sketches with further exploration of  different types and sizes of cotton/rope reels.
These are concept development sketches exploring different types and sizes of cotton/rope reels with the thread and string on it giving it texture.
These are concept development sketches exploring different possibilities of making a vase using these reels. Joining the reels together and repeating the reels creates a sense of repetition incorporating the design principles into this design.
These are concept development sketches moving towards refining the final idea. The final idea can be seen on the right side of the page. It is the cotton/rope reels stacked on top of each other, some left unchanged and others cut up and joined to create a unique shape to show its expressiveness but still allowing it to be a functional vessel. The final design will have different types of string and rope wrapped around certain parts to add to the detailing of the final vase.

This is a the cotton/rope reel stacked on top of each other placed sideways while cut on the side making an opening for the flowers to be held in the vase. It is assembled in Solidworks and it is rendered in Solidworks Visualize with a smooth white plastic finish.

Engineering Drawings
This is a detailed drawing done in Solidworks explaining one specific part of the assembly which is one cotton/rope reel. It also has measurements, dimensions, scale, orthographic views and material used. All of this information is specific to the one part being shown in detail. This helps manufacturers when producing the part.
